“I was working alongside kids who were in and out of jail, living fast paced violent lives and I started to be reminded of all the aggressive things I’d done. I’d walk around trying to relax and I’d be constantly reminded of how masculine violence runs through Australia, reflected in the landscape around me. I wanted to capture that tension, I wanted to capture the times where the shame and the pain sit with us and we’ve nothing left to do but remember and flinch.
